Kale Chips!
This week we made kale chips in our mud oven with Miss Holly! We did the entire process from start to finish.  We cut the kale from our garden, rinsed it, ripped it, seasoned it and finally we cooked the kale in our mud oven! You will see a recipe card on how to make kale chips coming home soon. Yum!

Thank you to all of my wonderful parents!! I had 100% conference attendance! I truly enjoyed sitting down with each and every one of you.  What an amazing groups of parents and students I work with.  Thank you again for taking the time to sit down with me and discuss your child's progress in second grade. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy your week!

This week for Daily 5 we have introduced "Work on Writing." This is a time where we get to choose the form of writing we would like to write about.  We brainstormed different types of forms and we came up with: lists, friendly letters, stories, factual writing, and poetry. Ask your child what their favorite form of writing is.  Also, ask them to tell you what work on writing looks like in the classroom.  They have done a wonderful job with this!

Some more pictures from our field trip...

We had such a wonderful time on our field trip to Frederick Meijer Gardens! We visited the farm and learned about how life was long ago.  We learned how they did laundry, made butter and how kids had fun!! The kids couldn't believe they didn't use ipods or video games! Here are a few pictures from our trip. Enjoy!
